6th Annual Tournament of Gold - Marching Band Field Show Competition set for Oct. 8

On Saturday, Oct. 8, the Vista Murrieta High School Golden Alliance Marching Band and Color Guard will host an annual competition with 13 regional marching bands. The competition will be judged by officials of the Western Band Association (WBA). The Tournament of Gold will give marching bands from throughout Southern California an opportunity to compete for trophies in their own class divisions based on band size as well as a sweepstakes trophy for best overall unit. The marching bands are judged on several criteria, including; music, marching and general effect.

The event will be held in Bronco Stadium, adjacent to Vista Murrieta High School located at 28251 Clinton Keith Rd in Murrieta, California.  Gates open at 11:30 a.m. The competition will begin promptly at 12:30 p.m. Tickets will be available at the ticket booth on the Home Side of the stadium.  Adults-$10, Senior Citizens/Students/ Military with ID $7, Children 5 and under Free. Spectator parking is available in the stadium parking lot at no cost. Entrance is from Clinton Keith Road. 

Concessions will be available for attendees to enjoy a variety of foods and desserts. 50/50 raffles and a fairway of vendors are sure to add to the excitement of the event. 

The Tournament of Gold, which is sponsored by the Golden Alliance Band Boosters, is not only an opportunity for student musicians to showcase their talents and hard work, but also a fundraising event to keep vital music programs in the school alive.  The Band Boosters is a nonprofit 501(3)c organization dedicated to their mission of providing financial support to the Vista Murrieta Band program.

The following is the press release from MPD: On 05-21-13, at 3:27 AM, the Murrieta Police Department received a call of a water-main break in the area of California Oaks Road and Monroe Avenue. Murrieta Police and Murrieta Fire Department initially responded to the scene and discovered a large sinkhole in the westbound lanes of California Oaks Road just west of Jackson Avenue. The sinkhole was approximately 4 feet deep and about 20 feet across. The hydraulic pressure from the water-main break appears to have created this sinkhole and damaged all the westbound lanes of California Oaks from approximately Jackson to Monroe. As a result, the westbound lanes of California Oaks between Jackson and Monroe will be closed for repair until further notice. Rancho Water Officials estimate that these repairs will take approximately one week to complete. When traveling in this area please expect delays and plan an alternate route in order to arrive at your destination on time.

Was it taken down by the blog author? I realize you guys have made a lot of changes so I'm still not sure if there are bugs being worked out or if some thing else is going on.
