1. Don’t put away your summer wardrobe just yet! The high temperature should be around 97 degrees Friday in Murrieta, 97 on Saturday and 94 on Sunday, according to the National Weather Service. Overnight lows will be in the low 60s. Winds gusts as high as 20 mph are possible.

The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in the Inland Empire dropped Thursday to its lowest amount since May 6, decreasing 1.5 cents to $3.892, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. That is 6.7 cents less than one week ago in Riverside and San Bernardino counties, 15.2 cents lower than one month ago and 19.4 cents below what it was one year ago.

Savers thrift store in Murrieta is holding its first annual Block Party Donation Drive in honor of back-to-school, according to an emailed announcement. The event is from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 17 and will feature contests, games, and prizes, free face-painting and a chance to enter to win a bicycle.
