Valentine's Dance Planned For Special Needs Adults

Organizers will treat 100 special needs adults to the ninth annual Valentine's Ball, scheduled for Feb. 10 at the Murrieta Community Center.

Area organizations are gearing up to warm the hearts of Murrieta's special needs adults with a Valentine's dinner-dance.

The ninth annual event is set for 6 p.m. Friday, Feb. 10 at the Murrieta Community Center, 41810 Juniper St., and is sponsored by Care-Rite of Murrieta, the city of Murrieta and the Rotary Club of Murrieta.

The theme of this year's Valentine's Ball is "Lasting Love," said Dennis McCarbery, spokeperson for the Rotary Club of Murrieta.

Club member Jim Yanoschik is chair of the Murrieta Rotary's dinner-dance committee, and Interact Club members from the city's three high schools are set to volunteer the night of, McCarbery said.

Guests will be treated to a meal prepared by Dawn Pavlik, and served by Rotarians and Interact Club members.

After dinner, there will be entertainment and dance music provided by Larry Potter of Potter Productions, he said.

The special needs adults will also receive a keepsake of the evening in the form of photography donated by Jann Gentry of Jann Gentry Photography, he said.

McCarbery said guests are invited by Care-Rite and the city through their alternative recreation program, and attendance is for the first 100 respondents, McCarbery said.
