Residents Run to Benefit New Murrieta Hospital

An inaugural 5K run/walk was held Sunday to encourage residents to take care of their health, while simultaneously supporting the emergency department at LLUMC-Murrieta.

About 400 runners and walkers of all ages and abilities hit the starting line Sunday morning, adjacent to Loma Linda University Medical Center-Murrieta.

Run For Your Life Murrieta! was a 5K held to benefit the emergency department at the new hospital, scheduled to open this month. Proceeds from race registration will help provide training and equipment for the emergency healthcare providers.

Murrieta Mayor Randon Lane was present to kick off the 3.1-mile race at 8:30 a.m. The main run/walk was followed by a kids fun run. Afterward, community members enjoyed free health screenings, free massages and goodies from local vendors.
