Murrieta Girl Competes For Miss Pre-Teen San Bernardino

Brittany Burke, 12, of Murrieta is preparing to compete among 120 girls for the title.

Brittany Burke, a student at Dorothy McElhinney Middle School in Murrieta, was recently selected to represent Murrieta in the 2012 Miss Pre-Teen San Bernardino pageant competition that will take place March 11.

Brittany, 12, learned of her acceptance into this year's competition when the pageant announced their selections following interviewing in the local San Bernardino area. Brittany was among 120 selected from more than 300 after submitting an application and taking part in an interview session that was conducted by this year's San Bernardino pageant coordinator.

Brittany will be competing for her share of thousands of dollars in prizes and specialty gifts that will be distributed to contestants. Brittany will be competing in the Miss Pre-Teen division, one of four divisions that will have young ladies ages of 7 and 19 competing in modeling routines, which include casual wear and formal wear.

Most important, Brittany will display her personality and interviewing skills while interviewing with this year's San Bernardino judging panel. Personality is the No. 1 aspect that each contestant is judged on during all phases of competition.

"With this title I hope to gain self confidence that every young girl needs in life. I feel that I can be a great role model for others my age. I am also seeking scholarship prizes as my goal is to go to a great college in the next few years ahead," Brittany wrote.

If Brittany were to win the title of Miss Pre-Teen San Bernardino, she would represent San Bernardino and the surrounding communities at the National Competition that will take place in Orlando, Fla. More than $30,000 in prizes and awards will be presented at the National Competition while each winner enjoys this expense paid trip of five nights and six days in Orlando.

Community businesses, organizations, and private individuals will assist Brittany in participating in this year's competition by becoming an official sponsor to her. Through sponsorship, each contestant receives all the necessary training, rehearsals, and financial support which will allow Brittany to become a very confident and well-prepared contestant in this year's San Bernardino Pageant.

Sponsors are advertised through pageant pamphlets. Local companies who have agreed to sponsor Brittany to date are PlasticGuy.us and Zabala's Refurbished Appliances.

Any business, organization, or private individual who may be interested in becoming a sponsor to Brittany may contact the Miss Pre-Teen San Bernardino pageant coordinator at 1-800-279-0976.

Brittany's mother, Tami Burke, can be contacted at 951-233-3448 or tamiburke9@yahoo.com with any other questions.
