Murrieta Athletes Shine at CIF-SS Master’s Track & Field Meet

Sixteen athletes from Murrieta's three public high schools will be traveling to Clovis Friday to compete at the California State Track and Field Championships.

Qualifiers out of the Master’s meet needed to either finish in the top five in their event or meet a state qualifying mark.

The weather at the Cerritos College track was blustery at times on Friday but most of Murrieta’s athletes that were entered advanced.

Erika Reddish (12), 1,600 meters, fourth place, 4:51.12

Jasmyn Graham (9), 100 meter hurdles, third place, 14.05*

4x100 meter relay, sixth place – Laura Stokes (12), Jasmyne Graham (9), Michelle Norman (10), Audriana Holloway (10), 47.44*

Boys

Omar Solis (11), 800 meters, fourth place, 1:53.16*

Kevin Gonzalez (12), 800 meters, fifth place, 1:52.21*

Porter Reddish (11), 1,600 meters, 11th place, 4:14.82

Darion Williams (12), 110 meter hurdles, third place, 14.52

Corey Whitaker (12), shot put, 10th place, 56’-5”

4x400 meter relay, second place – Kyle Garner (11), Deondrae Brooks (11), Larry Parrish (12), Kevin Gonzalez (12), 3:15.95*

Peter Chapman (12), pole vault, second place, 15’-9”*

Craig Mauldin (12), triple jump, sixth place, 46’-7”

Of note:

Craig Mauldin's 46 feet, 7-inch triple jump leap was one inch further than he needed to qualify. Craig becomes the Rams’ first student athlete to reach a state championship in the three-year history of the school.

*At least six of the above marks are considered “elite,” placing the athletes in the top 100 in the country.

Pole vaulter Peter Chapman is currently ranked eighth in the country by virtue of his 16’-6.5” vault at the Arcadia Invitational, April 7.

In a race that is only run at invitational track meets, Vista Murrieta’s boys distance medley relay team is currently ranked third in the country with a time of 10:08.52, a time they also achieved at the Arcadia Invitational, April 7.
