Man Pleads Guilty in Greer Ranch Burglary

Steven Grisham, 22, was located by police after fingerprints left on two burglarized Mercedes-Benz matched his.

A 22-year-old Murrieta man whose fingerprints led to his arrest for residential burglary has pleaded guilty.

Steven Grisham will serve 36 months probation and enter a county-approved residential substance abuse program, court records show.

Murrieta police took fingerprint samples from the car doors of two Mercedes-Benz that were burglarized overnight April 25-26 while parked inside the garage of a Greer Ranch home on Abelia Street, according to a Murrieta police statement filed in support of a warrant.

The victims woke up early April 26 and found their vehicles ransacked, Murrieta police Detective Kelly Sik wrote. Missing were two Apple iPads, two Apple iPods, one Garmin GPS and Mercedes and Ford Explorer keys as well as a small amount of cash, Sik wrote.

"The victim left his garage side door closed but unlocked for his exterminator for the following day," Sik wrote.

Several distinctive smudged fingerprints were seen on the doors of the two Mercedes, prompting police to take latent prints.

Police received confirmation May 29 that two of the prints belonged to Grisham.

He was located by police June 4 and arrested. Grisham was held on $35,000 bail before pleading guilty.

Grisham was granted probation on the basis that he was young, had no prior criminal record as an adult, pleaded guilty at an early stage in the proceedings, and because substance abuse was indicated but he had received no prior treatment, court records show.

He was also ordered to pay restitution.
