5 Things To Know In Murrieta Today: Feb. 10
There is plenty to keep the kids occupied for parents who are celebrating Valentine's Day early.
1. It will be another clear day, according to the National Weather Service. Today will be sunny with a high near 72. Tonight, expect patchy fog, mainly after 10 p.m., increasing clouds and a low near 40.
2. Treat your valentine to something special by taking in the sounds of the talented Murrieta Valley High School Choir. The choir presents its annual Valentine's Concert from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. tonight in the school's Performing Arts Center, 42200 Nighthawk Way.
3. Here's what's for lunch today at elementary schools in the Murrieta Valley Unified School District: french bread pizza. Lunches are served with a fresh fruit/salad bar and a choice of juice or milk. Lunches average about 658 calories and 16.29 percent fat. To see middle and high school menus, click here.
4. Head to PennyPickle's Workshop in Temecula for some sweet tooth science. Kids love candy but they have no idea how science plays a part in its creation! Experiment with the tastiest ingredients any scientist would love: Mentos, Lifesavers, jelly beans and more. The event is for kids ages 5-10 (no parents please) and is limited to 60 enrollees. Pre-registration is recommended but can be done so at Pennypickles.org. Tickets are $10 and include dinner. Pennypickles is at the Temecula Children's Museum, 42081 Main Street, Temecula.
5. For the avid gamer or those looking for a fun and unusual Friday night activity, Ryan’s Comics is hosting a “Call of Duty: Black Ops” tournament. This two-on-two, four-round tournament will feature default weapons and no ranking. Top teams will play in a bracket matchup consisting of random game modes and guns. The event begins at 6 p.m. and is open to teens and college students.
