5 Things to Know in Murrieta: Dec. 29

Kids eat free tonight at Carrows Restaurant.

1. It will be another sunny day, according to the National Weather Service. Today is expected to be sunny with a high near 76. Tonight, expect mostly clear skies and a low nearing 37.

2. There is a vacancy on the Board of Directors of the Rancho California Water District, because of the resignation of Brian J. Brady. In compliance with Government Code Section 1780, the Board of Directors intends to fill the vacancy by appointment. Interested persons who are resident registered voters within the District, and have experience and the time to commit to the Board may contact Kelli Garcia, district secretary at 951-296-6945 or Denise Todd, deputy district secretary at 951-296-6943. Resumes and letters of interest, including qualifications, must be received by the District office by 5 p.m. Jan. 6 and will be considered by the Board of Directors at its regularly scheduled 8:30 a.m. meeting Jan. 12. The meeting will be held in the Board Room of the District offices located at 42135 Winchester Road, Temecula. All applicants will be requested to attend the Jan. 12 meeting, where they will have an opportunity to address the Board.

3. Every Thursday at  in Murrieta, children race free with every paid adult. The event, at 41810 McAlby Court, runs from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

4. Take a photography class at the . Learn everything about your camera, how to control light and what makes a winning photo. Education Classes are for those who desire to capture and experience different aspects of the natural world. Class fees are a tax-deductible donation to the Santa Rosa Plateau Foundation in support of the children education programs at the Santa Rosa Plateau Ecological Reserve. Award-winning nature photographer, writer and an accomplished “birder,” Dick Cronberg instructs. The fee is $100 for two classes. Classes begin in January but space is filling up fast. 5. Don’t feel like cooking tonight? Eat out on the cheap by heading to  Restaurant where kids eat free tonight. Between 4 p.m. and 10 p.m., with every adult meal purchase, a child eats free. Located at 24640 Madison Ave., this special applies to all patrons.
